I’M PASSIONATE ABOUT

I’m most passionate about reducing health inequalities, which is the idea that the burden of poor health disproportionately affects the poorest and most vulnerable in society. I believe that the best way to reduce health inequality is to make sure that everyone has fair and equal access to the kinds of preventive healthcare that help protect us from ill health or that gives us the tools to properly manage a health condition that has developed.

YOU CAN HELP ME BY

Supporting Appt on social media or by getting in touch – we are always looking for potential new partners and team members as we scale our digital health product! And don’t forget to spread the word about the importance of preventive healthcare. You can learn about the national guidance and start a conversation with friends and family about what they are doing to best safeguard their health.

ABOUT HECTOR SMETHURST

Hector is the Founder of Appt, a specialised patient engagement tool that makes it simple for primary care providers to achieve high uptake for preventive health appointments like the NHS Health Check. Hector started Appt in 2017 while he was working in a GP practice that served a deprived part of Tower Hamlets: he saw a real opportunity to improve the working lives of his colleagues and the health outcomes for the community. Today Appt has a dedicated team of five with ambitious plans to improve the delivery of preventive healthcare in the UK, whilst reducing the effects of health inequality.
